A semi-analytical fundamental-solution-less
boundary-element method which offers more than the combination of the advantages
of finite-element and boundary-element methods

equations and examples)
SCALED BOUNDARY FINITE-ELEMENT
METHOD IN A NUTSHELL:
After the boundary is discretized with surface
finite elements, the governing partial differential equations are
transformed to ordinary differential equations which are solved
analytically. The resulting semi-analytical solutions represent
singularites and unbounded domains accurately and efficiently in contrast
to the standard finite-element method. No fundamental solution as required
in the boundary-element method is necessary.
Many other advantages of this method exist.
